How to Land Brand Deals and Collaborations, Even Without a Massive Following
We hear creators assume they need hundreds of thousands of followers before a brand will take them seriously. That is not always true.

A following is not the whole story
We hear creators assume they need hundreds of thousands of followers before a brand will take them seriously. That is not always true. Brands care about whether you reach people they want to reach, whether your audience trusts you, and whether you can create content that helps tell their story. A smaller, engaged audience in a specific niche can be genuinely valuable. So can a creator with strong production skills who makes content a brand can license and use in its own marketing.
Know what you bring to the partnership
Start by identifying your audience, your content strengths, and the products or services you already talk about naturally. If you are a travel creator, that might mean destinations, gear, or hospitality. If you are a wellness professional, it might be education, routines, or trusted tools. Make a short media kit with your story, audience information, examples of your best work, and the types of collaborations you offer. Be accurate with your numbers. A thoughtful fit is much more compelling than inflated reach.
Pitch an idea, not just yourself
Instead of sending a message that says, ’I’d love to collaborate,’ give the brand a reason to imagine working with you. Explain why the partnership makes sense and propose one or two content concepts. Maybe it is a behind-the-scenes reel, a practical tutorial, a travel diary, or a series showing a product in real life. Keep the pitch concise and make it easy to respond. Follow up politely if you do not hear back. Often the first conversation is simply the beginning of a relationship.
Treat the deal like a business
Before agreeing, clarify deliverables, posting dates, revision rounds, usage rights, exclusivity, payment timing, and whether the brand can run your content as an ad. Content creation and long-term advertising usage are different kinds of value. Disclose paid or gifted relationships as required, including clear FTC disclosures for U.S. audiences. And track what the collaboration actually produces. We are excited about helping creators turn influence into sustainable revenue, but sustainable means understanding the terms and building partnerships that work for both sides. You do not need to wait for permission to start approaching brands that fit your world.
