How to Get Booked on Podcasts and Turn Every Appearance Into Business Opportunities

Podcasts are one of our favorite examples of how a genuine conversation can introduce someone to an entirely new audience.

You have more to offer than a sales pitch

Podcasts are one of our favorite examples of how a genuine conversation can introduce someone to an entirely new audience. But hosts are not looking for another guest who spends forty minutes promoting a service. They want stories, useful ideas, surprising perspectives, and people who can help their listeners. The first step toward getting booked is figuring out what you can contribute that is interesting beyond your business name.

Create three strong conversation angles

Think about the experiences you have earned the right to talk about. A founder might discuss building a remote team, the mistakes behind a successful launch, or how their industry is changing. For Steve and me, our backgrounds in music, our agency work, and the experience of building a business while traveling could each lead to a different conversation. Write a brief bio, identify three specific topics, and prepare examples that make each one useful. That gives a host something tangible to say yes to.

Pitch with care

Research shows before reaching out. Listen to recent episodes and look for a real connection between the show’s audience and your expertise. Your email should explain why you are reaching out, suggest a specific episode idea, and make it easy to learn more about you. Avoid mass messages that sound like they were sent to hundreds of hosts. A short, relevant note usually does more for a relationship than a long generic pitch. And if you are invited, show up prepared and focus on serving the listeners.

Have a plan for the people who discover you

Before an episode goes live, make sure your website clearly explains what you do and how someone can take the next step. If you mention a resource, create a simple page where people can find it. Once the episode is published, share it across your channels, thank the host, and repurpose approved clips or quotes. Add the appearance to a media page and follow up with anyone who reaches out. A podcast can build trust for a long time after publication, especially when the conversation is evergreen. We help founders think beyond the booking itself so visibility can become a meaningful part of their growth strategy.

With love from the road, Steve & Nichole
